Tournament

Festival

Trout, and more Trout and Money.
The
Greater Helen Chamber of Commerce’s 19th Annual
Trout Tournament will be held Saturday March 29, 2008 between
the hours of 6:00 am till 2:00 pm.
Registration
will be Friday March 28 between the hours of 4:00
pm -8:00 pm at the Helen Chamber Office, 1074 Edelweiss Strasse,
Helen
,
GA. The Festival's Demonstrations, Vendors, and
Food, between the hours 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Friday, are open
to the public with FREE ADMISSION. Registration for the
tournament, on Saturday is 6:00 am - 9:00 am, at the Helen
Chamber Füssen Biergarten on Edelweiss Strasse. Cost is $10.00
per person, children under 12 - $5.00. Saturdays Festival
hours are 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM with Demonstrations,
Vendors and Food and FREE ADMISSION to the public.
A
Georgia
fishing license and trout stamp is required by the State of
Georgia; rules on lures and bait used during the tournament are the
Department of Natural Resources rules of fishing in the Chattahoochee
River
in Helen. The Helen Chamber of Commerce will put in 250 -300 pounds of trophy size
fish and DNR will be stocking the river for the enjoyment of
all.
To
win the prizes, anglers must catch one of the tagged fish.
Twenty plus tagged fish worth $2200.00 will be released.
New to this year's tournament, 'Shuler's Great
Outdoors' is
sponsoring a tagged fish worth $1,000.00. The Milton Davis fish will be worth $500.00 to the angler that
catches him. Three $100.00 fish, four $50.00 fish, eight $25.00
fish will round out the prize list. In 2006, the $500.00 tagged
fish eluded fishermen; in 2004, a red tail hawk claimed the top
prize. Come and try your luck at landing the big one and winning
the Shuler's $1,000.00 fish, or the Milton Davis $500.00
fish or any of the other tagged fish .
